Washington Adds Home Game Nov. 8 vs. Alfred State

From Washington University Athletics

Washington University in St. Louis Athletics has announced the addition of a home football game Saturday, Nov. 8, vs. Alfred State. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. (CT). The game will be part of a tripleheader at Francis Field on Saturday: 11 a.m. – men's soccer vs. Chicago, 1:30 p.m. – women's soccer vs. Chicago.

The game against Alfred State will replace the Oct. 18 contest vs. Maranatha Baptist that was cancelled.

"We are excited to add a 10th game and to provide our football student-athletes with the opportunity to play a full schedule," said Director of Athletics Josh Whitman. "Between last week's cancellation and now adding a game less than three weeks before it happens, it has been an unusual fall, but it is ending well for all involved. Many thanks to everyone who worked hard to bring this agreement together, and special thanks to Alfred State for their openness to exploring possibilities."

Alfred State, located in Alfred, N.Y., is in its second year competing as an NCAA Division III Independent. The Pioneers have a 2-4 overall record, including a 0-4 mark against Division III competition. Alfred State started football in 1995 as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and became a member of NCAA Division III in 2013.
