New York University Diving Coach Scott Donie will be inducted into the Southern Methodist University (SMU) Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, May 6, at the Moody Coliseum in Dallas, TX.
During his collegiate career, Donie was an 11-time Southwest Conference Champion, 11-time All American and three-time NCAA National Champion. He also earned the 1990 NCAA Diver of the Year award.
After graduating from SMU in 1990, Donie won two USA Diving National titles and captured the silver medal in the men's 10-meter platform event at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. He went on to place fourth in the three-meter springboard competition at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, GA.
"It is a great honor to be inducted and I am truly humbled to have been invited to become a permanent part of the history of athletics at SMU," said Donie. "I am really looking forward to reuniting with my family, friends, teammates, and coaches this weekend in Dallas."
During his 16-year tenure as NYU Diving Coach, Donie has produced 19 All-Americans and has been named University Athletic Association (UAA) Coach of the Year 17 times.
