For the second straight week, Washington University in St. Louis junior pitcher Annie Pitkin has been selected as the Louisville Slugger National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Pitcher of the Week, as announced Wednesday by the Association.
Pitkin, who earned the UAA Softball Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season, posted back-to-back shutouts and picked up a save in three appearances to help WashU go 4-0 March 7-8. She tossed a one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts in a 5-0 win over Thomas More College Saturday, and followed that with a three-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts in a 3-0 win over Adrian College Sunday.
Pitkin finished the week by picking up her school-record sixth career save by striking out the side in the seventh inning of a 5-4 win at Agnes Scott College Sunday.
She has a 7-1 record with a 0.73 ERA this season, with 58 strikeouts and just seven walks.
