Washington University in St. Louis senior infielder Brooke Hofer was named to the 2016 Academic All-District Five Division III Softball Team, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Hofer has started all 44 games at first base for the Bears, and is batting a career-best .428 with 12 doubles and 29 RBIs. She ranks second in the conference with 59 hits, and is also fourth in doubles, fifth in batting average, ninth in RBIs.
Hofer, a 2016 second-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection, is second on the team with 18 multiple-hit games. She was named the UAA Hitter of the Week on March 21. Hofer is the WashU all-time games played leader with 182, and has a career .348 batting average with 28 doubles and 91 RBIs.
A three-time Academic all-UAA selection, Hofer was a 2014 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American Scholar Athlete. She has a 3.52 grade point average while majoring in finance and marketing.
To be eligible for nomination to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, and must be a starter or an important reserve. Hofer is now eligible to be selected to the Academic All-America Team, announced May 24.
