Goal with Two Seconds Left Helps Tartans Tie Season-Finale at CWRU

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team finished the regular season on Saturday with a 2-2 tie at Case Western Reserve University after a game-tying goal with two seconds to play. The Tartans move to 8-4-5 overall and 2-2-3 in the University Athletic Association while the Spartans finish 5-5-6 and 0-3-4.

  • All the goals came in the last 12 minutes of the game with the Tartans striking first in the 78th minute off a shot by graduate student Robert Lloyd. The goal was assisted by first-year player Sandor Preda.
  • CWRU answered in the 82nd minute with a goal by Amir Awais.
  • With 43 seconds to play, Adam Pluszczyk gave the home team the lead off an assist by Lukas Dalakis.
  • The Tartans pinned the ball deep off the restart and earned a corner kick in the final 10 seconds. First-year Drew McKim serve the ball toward the near post and senior Jake Slackman was there to head it down and finish the shot for the equalizer with two ticks left on the clock.
  • Both teams registered five shots on goal for the game.
