The New York University women's basketball team began the evening by celebrating its 2024 NCAA Division III Championship with a Ring and Banner Ceremony, and then went on to its 34th-consecutive victory with a 105-36 triumph over Kean University on Friday at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.

Last season's players and coaches received rings prior to the game, and a championship banner was added to the rafters of the Paulson Center before the Violets took the floor.

The 2023-24 Violets  recorded the greatest season (31-0) in program history.

"To be able to celebrate in this way was truly special," said Head Coach Meg Barber. "It's an amazing accomplishment and it feels good for this team to be celebrated by so many."

Friday's game was never in doubt as the Violets (3-0) scored the first eight points and led 33-12 after the first quarter.

The lead grew to 56-18 at halftime and 79-29 after three quarters.

NYU's advantage continued to increase in the final quarter and culminated in the 69-point victory.

The Violets forced the Cougars into 47 turnovers.

In their three wins so far this season, NYU has yet to yield more than 39 points.

"We're known for our defense," Barber added. "We're just getting better everyday in practice competing against each other. We hold each other accountable for maintaining the standard that the team is known for."

Natalie Bruns scored a season-high 21 points to lead the Violets. Belle Pellecchia (16) and Jamie Behar (12) also scored in double figures.

Brooke Batchelor's seven rebounds were a game- and career-high, while four Violets each had four assists (Pellecchia, Behar, Maria Alvarado, Caroline Peper).
