The #18-ranked New York University women's soccer team clinched its second consecutive Sweet 16 berth with a 2-0 win over McDaniel in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Sunday at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

In the 17th minute of the game, the Violets were awarded a penalty kick after Rena Kalargiros was tripped up by a Green Terror defender inside of the box. Riley Mullady promptly buried her penalty shot into the low right corner of the net to put NYU up, 1-0.

McDaniel was held shot-less for entire first half.

Less than eight minutes into the second half, Kelli Keady slotted a pass for Izze Ching, who then put a shot into the low center of the goal.

"[Kelli] played a beautiful ball and I was just in the right place at the right time," explained Ching. "I'm just so glad that it happened."

The Green Terror finished with just three shots in the entire match and were unable to put a shot on goal.

"We knew it was going to be a tough game," said head coach Scott Waddell. "McDaniel's a great team, and we were happy to get out and score early and get another one in the second half."
