NYU Men's Cross Country Wins UAA Championship; Violets Capture Fifth in Program History

New York University's #8-ranked men's cross country team captured their fifth-ever victory at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship, taking the title in Attleboro, Massachusetts, on Saturday.

The Violets totaled 34 points to best all eight teams in the eight-kilometer race.

Ryan Tobin crossed the line first for the Violets and second overall with a time of 24:24.8.

NYU's Evan Sherman and Liam Hagerty finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively. Sherman's time of 24:37.0 earned him a new personal best in the event while Hagerty clocked 24:38.5.

Jeffrey Chen took eighth with a time of 24:41.5 and Andrew Taylor rounded out the Violets' top-five finishers with a time of 24:47.0.

The Violets last took home the championship in 2009 and won their first three from 2006-2009. in 2007, they also captured the NCAA Division III Championship.
