Four UAA Teams Receive Bids to NCAA Men's Basketball Championship

UAA co-champions Case Western Reserve University and NYU will be joined by Carnegie Mellon University and Washington University in the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship tournament.

The Spartans will open play on Friday, March 1 against Mary Baldwin at 7:15 p.m. CWRU will also host a first-round match between Hope and Anderson (Ind.) on Friday at 4:45 p.m.. The two winning teams will then face off in the second round on Saturday, March 2 at 7:15 p.m. Times for each will be announced later in the day on Monday. All three games will be played at Horsburgh Gymnasium inside the Veale Center on the CWRU campus.

CWRU earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship after clinching the 2024 University Athletic Association title with a victory over Carnegie Mellon on Saturday. The Spartans finished the regular season with a 21-4 overall record, including a 10-4 mark in UAA games. This is the third NCAA Division III Tournament berth in the program's history, each of which has taken place in the last three years.

NYU
New York University's men's basketball team was selected as one of the hosts for the first and second rounds of the 2024 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

The Violets will take on Husson University in the opening round, also welcoming Stockton University and Tufts University to the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.

Stockton and Tufts will play at 4:15pm on Friday, March 1, with NYU vs. Husson following at 6:45pm. The two winners will then play in the second round on Saturday, March 2, at 6:45pm.

Carnegie Mellon

The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team received an at-large bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship, marking the fourth-ever appearance by the Tartans and third under 34-year head coach Tony Wingen.

The Tartans last appeared in the NCAA tournament in 2009 and advanced to the second round. 

Carnegie Mellon will face Rowan University (19-7) on Friday, March 1, at 3:15 p.m. in Washington, D.C., at Catholic University. Rowan received an at-large bid out of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) after falling in their conference tournament semifinal to The College of New Jersey.

The winner between the Tartans and Rowan will face the winner of Catholic University (24-3) out of the Landmark Conference and Worcester State University (18-9) out of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday, March 2, at 5:45 p.m.

WashU
The Bears (18-7) received an at-large bid and will host the first and second rounds of the 2024 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

WashU opens against Wisconsin Lutheran (24-4) at 6:50 p.m. on Friday. Dubuque (21-6) and Illinois College (23-4) will play in the opening contest with the winners facing off on Saturday.
