Meg Barber of NYU Named USA Basketball 5-on-5 Junior Coach of the Year
Head coach Meg Barber of the top-ranked New York University women's basketball team has been named the 2024 USA Basketball 5-on-5 Coach of the Year following an undefeated FIBA U17 Women's World Cup campaign last summer.
Barber was named head coach of the U17 women's team last May. Her squad went on to win each of its seven games in the World Cup, including a victory over Canada in the championship game. Over the seven contests, the team averaged a record 100.4 points per game and defeated opponents by an average margin of 48.0 points.
The gold medal she earned at the tournament added to an already successful 2024 for Barber as her NYU squad won the NCAA Division III National Championship to cap off an undefeated 31-0 season.
The Violets currently have a 47-game winning streak, the longest in the nation comprising all three women's and men's NCAA divisions.
