Cami Colpitts Nets Hat Trick as No. 5 WashU Blanks Millikin 7-0

Sophomore Cami Colpitts netted a hat trick on Tuesday evening as the No. 5 Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team defeated Millikin 7-0 on the road. The Bears are now 9-0-1 on the season.
 
The Bears scored their first goal of the game at the 14:48 mark as Colpitts played a give-and-go with senior Ella Koleno and finished off a cross for her first goal of the day.
 
Colpitts scored again in the at the 17:00 mark, putting in a ball from junior Keira Smyser. Just 42 seconds later, Colpitts completed her hat trick, finishing off a cross from Koleno for her fifth goal of the season.
 
WashU made it a 4-0 game in the 22nd minute as first-year Monica Morales-Martinez scored her first-career goal as a Bear on a long cross from Koleno, finishing into the high left corner of the net.
 
Junior Allie Goulding made it a 5-0 game for the Bears in the 36th, taking a short pass from first-year Heidi Fesler and firing a long ball past Millikin's diving goalkeeper.
 
First-year Ridley Newton scored her first-career goal at WashU in the 41st minute, taking a pass from sophomore Olivia Clemons and chipping it into the left corner for the 6-0 lead.
 
WashU scored one more goal in the second half, as Julia Moore scored her first goal of the year in the 51st minute, putting away a short pass from senior Kerrigan Ferland.
 
Colpitts recorded a team-high seven shots with four shots on goal and three goals. Newton had three shots, all on goal while Clemons and Moore each had three total shots with two on goal.
 
Three goalkeepers combined for a shutout – sophomores Suzie Green and Heidi Schultz and junior Charlotte Shapiro. Green made the lone save on the day for the Bears.
