The No. 7 Washington University in St. Louis men's soccer team traveled to Cleveland on Saturday morning for its first road UAA contest of the season. Facing off against Case Western Reserve, the Bears used a goal in the 21st minute to leave and return to campus with a 1-0 win over the Spartans.

With the win, WashU improves to 10-1 overall and 2-0 in the UAA.

After several attempts by CWRU to push the ball upfield into their offensive end of the pitch, the Bears were able to secure a corner kick on the opposite side of the field. As the teams lined up for the corner, senior Zach Susee stepped up and curved the ball from the left corner past the goalkeeper, sending it into the back of the net at 20:10.

This gave the Bears a 1-0 lead, a lead they were able to maintain and defend for their third-straight shutout win.

WashU earned the win despite the Spartans taking more shots, including shots on goal, as well as more corners.

Susee led three Bears with two shots each, as first-year Daniel Kochen and junior Quentin Gomez also took two shots apiece.

Junior Cal L'Hommedieu made five saves while playing all 90 minutes to extend his shutout streak to three games and his unscored upon time to 314:49.
