The Emory University women's tennis team continued its weekend in Statesboro at the Georgia Southern Shootout on Saturday with the team totaling seven wins across doubles and singles competition.
Two of the team's wins on the day came in doubles play as junior Yanire Marte and sophomore Daniela Livson recorded another standout win, knocking off Kennesaw State's Ivankovis/Nel, 6-3, to advance to the finals of the White draw. The Eagles added another 6-3 decision in the consolation round of the Blue draw where senior Izzy Antanavicius and freshman Erika Olson defeated North Carolina A&T's pairing of Rakotoarilala/Gomez-Weis.
Following their wins in doubles, Antanavicius and Marte both secured highlight wins in singles. In the White draw, Antanavicius advanced to the finals with her win over Kennesaw State's Izabelle Persson, 6-1, 7-5, and in the GATA bracket, Marte knocked out the No. 2 seed of Mackenzie Leopold from Georgia Southern, 7-5, 6-2.
The doubles partners of both Antanavicius and Marte faired equally as well in singles play on Saturday with Olson and Livson both recording wins in their respective matches. In the consolation round of the White draw, Olson rallied to defeat South Carolina State's Valeria Teran 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 and in the consolation of the FAYE draw, Livson topped Austin Peay's Alice Bolton in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
The Eagles' final win of the second day came in the ERK draw where freshman Holyn Karp improved to 2-0 this weekend as she defeated an opponent from SCSU in strong fashion, 6-3, 6-1.
