Jadyn Hsieh-Bailey Brace Pushes No. 19 UChicago Past North Park
,CHICAGO -- The 19th-ranked University of Chicago men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to 12 consecutive games on Wednesday night with a 3-2 victory over North Park in the non-conference finale.
The Vikings struck first in the Wednesday night showdown after a long-distance shot knuckled in front of Ali Alamery, and North Park was able to pick up the rebound and put it away with a header for the opening goal in the 15th minute.
Edward Wu continued his top-notch run of form with an olimpico in the 33rd minute to level the scoreline. The goal marks the third consecutive game with a goal and the fourth consecutive game with a point for the sophomore. Wu is the first UChicago player to score in three consecutive games since Danny Mendoza in 2024.
In the 39th minute, the Maroons found the go-ahead goal as Jadyn Hsieh-Bailey stepped up to a free kick from 35 yards out and buried it in the back of the net with a left-footed strike, freezing the Viking keeper on his line.
Just over three minutes later, Hsieh-Bailey found his second goal of the game to finish off his first collegiate brace. William Stewart beat his defender down the pitch on the left side and ripped a shot. After the North Park keeper came up with the save, Evan Kanellos found the rebound and played a ball back to Hsieh-Bailey, who slotted it home.
The Vikings would get a goal back late, but the Maroons would hold on for a 3-2 victory over their Chicago rivals. The win extends the UChicago unbeaten streak to 12 consecutive games, which is the fourth-longest streak in school history and the longest since their National Championship season in 2022.
Ali Alamery made five saves in goal for the Maroons, and Giovanni Caselli led the team with 4 shots and 3 shots on goal.
