The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team traveled north to Erie, Pennsylvania to play the Lions of Penns State Behrend. The Tartans left Erie with a 78-62 victory and are now 5-1 overall as Behrend moves to 2-3.

How it Happened

  • The Tartans grabbed a double-digit lead with 3:21 left in the first half off a triple by sophomore Evan Mirazimi that made the score 36-24.
  • Carnegie Mellon continued to maintain its lead and took a 44-29 lead into the locker room.
  • The second half saw the Tartans lead get cut to within six points on two occasions over the first eight minutes.
  • The Tartans then used a 10-0 run midway through the half and took at 63-49 advantage with 7:29 to play.
  • The Cardinal and Gray held on to a double-digit lead the rest of the way and left Erie with a 78-62 victory.

Tartan Stats

  • For the fifth time this season, Carnegie Mellon shot over 50% from the floor after making 31-of-58 from the floor for 53.4%. The Tartan converted 8-of-18 from long range for 44.4%.
  • Graduate student Sam Adusei and senior Buckley DeJardin led the Tartans with 18 points apiece.
  • Junior Isaac Higgs along with graduate student Nikola Dimitrijevic both chipped in with 11 points in the win.
  • Graduate student Nolan Casey grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
