Brandeis Ends Regular Season on High Note with 1-0 Win at No. 21 NYU

The Brandeis University women's soccer team closed out its regular season on a high note Saturday afternoon, earning its first University Athletic Association (UAA) win of the year with a 1–0 triumph over #21 NYU at Lubetkin Field at J. Malcolm Simon Stadium (NJIT).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Judges took the lead midway through the first half when junior Abby Kenkelen (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill) struck low to the right corner in the 24th minute, putting Brandeis ahead 1–0.
- That early goal held up the rest of the way thanks to a resilient defensive performance. Sophomore goalkeeper Penny Alston (New York, N.Y./East Side Community) was outstanding in net, recording five saves to preserve the shutout, the third of this season and her career.
- Despite being outshot 10–4 and facing six shots on goal from the Violets, the Judges maintained their composure and prevented NYU from tying the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The win marks Brandeis's first UAA victory of the 2025 season.
- Kenkelen's goal was her third this season, having scored goals in both the opener and closer.
- Alston's five saves were one shy of tying her season high.
- With the win, the Brandeis women improved to 18–8–4 all-time against the Violets, claiming their first victory in the series since 2021.
