The University of Chicago women's volleyball team capped off its regular season with a dominating sweep over the Lake Forest Foresters on Friday night.

The first set opened back and forth with the score level at eight, but the Maroons would turn it on late in the set with a four-point serving run by Gabi Spellings and a five-point serving run by Adelee Kaiton to help take control of the set. Olivia Ip would then cap off the 25-16 opening set with a big kill to put the Maroons up 1-0.

The Foresters again stuck around early in the second set with the Maroons only holding a 10-8 lead, but UChicago would win 15 of the next 19 points to take set two 25-12. Then, in the final set, UChicago would continue to roll with a 25-10 third set to complete the sweep. The Maroons would hit .481 as a team in the final set with 16 kills to only three errors.

Adelee Kaiton and Gabi Spellings led the Maroons with eight kills, and Spellings hit a team-high .636. Her .636 hitting percentage is the highest by a UChicago player since Madison Pearson hit .700 in 2018. Thalita Marangon added six kills with a .429 hitting percentage and a team-high 13 digs. Gaby Miriki also led the team with three blocks in the win.

As a team, UChicago hit over .300 for just the second time this season. The Maroons also held the Foresters to a hitting percentage of -.021, the first time a UChicago opponent hit negative since their win over Brandeis in 2023.

With the win, the Maroons improve to 14-12 on the season.
