The UAA has added Assistant Commissioner Natalia Herrera to the staff for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 academic years, thanks to the NCAA Pathway to Excellence grant. She began working in the UAA on August 4th.

“The UAA conducted a thorough, national search for the newest member of our team - and Natalia very quickly rose to the top. Her digital marketing, social media management, and graphic design experiences will help us more effectively elevate our UAA student-athletes; her NCAA governance experience will serve UAA administrators and coaches. Most importantly, a former scholar-athlete herself, she brings a passion for the student-athlete experience and an eagerness to help us advance the brand and visibility of the Association."

Herrera spent the 2024-25 academic year working at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she assisted the Vice President of Division III Governance team with membership communication and resource development creation and maintenance. She also supported various Association-wide decision-making bodies including the Presidents Council, the Management Council, and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the UAA and contribute to supporting our student-athletes and member institutions. I look forward to working alongside such a talented team to make a meaningful impact,” Herrera said.

The NCAA Division III Strategic Planning and Finance Committee, Management and Presidents Councils approved the implementation of the Division III Pathway to Excellence Grant starting this year. The grant is designed to provide financial assistance to the division’s member schools and conferences that are committed to enhancing future leaders in entry-level intercollegiate athletics administrative positions.
