No. 1 WashU Blanks Westminster 8-0 in Season Opener

The No. 1 Washington University in St. Louis women's soccer team started the season off with a 8-0 win over Westminster on Francis Olympic Field.
 
The Bears scored their first goal in the 18th minute as sophomore Cami Colpitts sent a ball up to senior Ella Koleno who finished things off for the 1-0 lead.
 
In the 31st minute, senior Grace Ehlert made it a 2-0 game for WashU, scoring in the box off a pass from junior Sophie Viscovich.
 
Just 56 seconds into the second half, sophomore Olivia Clemons scored her first goal of the game on a pass from Koleno and the pair connected again in the 52nd minute for a 4-0 lead.
 
First-year Heidi Fesler scored her first-career goal at the 71:00 mark on a pass from Ehlert. Just over seven minutes later, first-year Annika Park also scored her first-career goal on a ball from senior Kerrigan Ferland for the 6-0 lead.
 
Ferland then converted her own goal in the 80th minute, taking a rebound from a previous shot and firing the ball in.
 
Junior Anna Rosato scored her second-career goal in the 86th minute, making a move around the keeper when she was out of net.
 
As a team, the Bears recorded 34 shots including 20 on goal, while not allowing Westminster a single shot.
 
Clemons had a team-high six shots with four on goal while Viscovich recorded four shots with two on goal.
