The #17-ranked New York University women's soccer team dominated Mount Saint Mary College 6-0 en route to a season-opening win on Friday, August 29, in Newburgh, New York.

Five different Violets found the back of the net on the night, including a brace from Alexa Buxbaum.

It took less than one minute into the game for NYU to break the ice, as Buxbaum scored her first goal at the 50-second mark. Just 12 minutes later, she posted her second goal with assists coming from both Rena Kalargiros and Sydney Freese.

Kalargiros added a third goal just inside the 20-minute mark to close out the scoring for the first half.

Just over a minute into the second half, newcomer Sonia Neighbors scored off of another assist by Freese. The latter then registered a goal as well with over 30 minutes remaining.

Yukino Wakatsuki added a final tally with a goal in the 85th minute.

After Mia Capo started the first half, Demetra Sideridis and Maddy Tohanczyn split time in net in the second half and recorded one save each.
