The University of Chicago men's soccer team earned its first result of the 2025 season with a 0-0 draw against (RV) St. Olaf on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ali Alamery stole the spotlight, making a career-high 10 saves to secure his first career clean sheet. He becomes the first UChicago keeper to post 10 or more saves in a single game since David Cohen against WashU in 2012.

The Oles nearly struck early in the 5th minute when a foul set up a free kick from 30 yards out, but Abdirasak Bulale's shot sailed just wide. UChicago's best chance of the opening half came in the 32nd minute as Edward Wu swung in a left-footed cross to Jadyn Hsieh-Bailey, whose header missed narrowly wide of goal.

Alamery made his presence felt in the 37th minute with a pair of saves on a St. Olaf corner. He was called into action again in the 61st, stopping another chance off a corner before Max Weene cleared a follow-up shot off the line.

UChicago pushed for a breakthrough late. In the 70th minute, William Stewart tested the keeper with a left-footed strike from the top of the box, and Wu forced another big save in the 78th minute after dribbling through the Oles defense for a long-range attempt.

Despite several late pushes from St. Olaf, Alamery made four saves in the final 10 minutes to preserve the scoreless draw.

Samuel Jimenez paced the offense with three shots, while Hsieh-Bailey added two.

With the result, UChicago moves to 0-1-1 on the season after a pair of tough road contests.
