The fifth-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team scored twice in a 99 second span to defeat Calvin University 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at DiSanto Field in Cleveland.

The Spartans improved to 7-0-1 this season, while the Knights fell to 3-4-0.

  • First-year Izzy Probst and senior Jamie Goldfarb scored unassisted goals for CWRU in the first half
  • Sophomore Ellie Palaian saved a season-high five shots to secure her seventh shutout of the campaign

First Half

  • The Knights had the early edge, taking the game's first shot and earning a corner kick in the eighth minute
  • CWRU took control with six shots over the next 10 minutes, including one that hit the woodwork
  • Neither team was able to gain an advantage on the scoreboard until the 39th minute
  • Probst, playing tight defense in the attacking box, stole the ball away from a defender close to net
  • Within a few yards of the goal, Probst sent a shot through the legs of the diving goalkeeper to break the scoreless tie
  • The goal was her third of the season
  • CWRU earned a free kick about 35 yards away from the box in the 40th minute
  • Goldfarb took a shot at the goal with the ball hitting the crossbar before bouncing over the line for the score
  • It was Goldfarb's seventh goal of the season and the 15th of her career

  • CWRU controlled possession for much of the second half, gaining a 10-2 edge in shots and 4-1 advantage in shots on goal
  • The Spartans also earned three corner kicks in the final 45 minutes compared to just one for the Knights
