CWRU Opens Fall Slate at Big Red Invitational

The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team began the fall portion of the 2025-26 season at the Big Red Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Denison Tennis Courts in Granville, Ohio.

CWRU competed against the host Denison University, Ohio Northern University, and Centre College at the two-day invite. The Spartans combined to go 22-4 (.846) against the Big Red, Polar Bears, and Colonels, including a 12-2 (.857) record in doubles play and 21-4 (.840) mark in singles matches

Top Performers

  • Junior Katie Wong won all six of her matches, going 3-0 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles play across the two days of competition
  • Senior Katalina Wang and sophomore Maya Brink won all five matches they played with each going 5-0 over the weekend
  • First-year Emma Thoms and junior Kareena Sivanesan were also undefeated at the invite, posting 3-0 records in the tournament
  • First-year Gabby Lee, sophomore Yasemin Bilgin, and first-year Tara Markovic picked up four wins each, first-year Trisha Vellanki, junior Prachi Shah, and first-year Ava Karrenbauer all added three victories across singles and doubles play, and sophomore Sara Fernandez won a pair of matches
