Steady Play Leads Tartans Past Brandeis, 49-46

The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team improved its record to 11-5 overall and 3-2 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) with a 49-46 victory at Brandeis University on Friday. The Judges move to 11-6 and 1-5.

How it Happened

  • The Tartans answered with six straight points before the quarter ended with the Judges leading by one, 15-14.
  • Brandeis opened the second quarter with a triple by Saviah Shabazz and a layup by Abby Kennedy before a second three-pointer by Shabazz gave the Judges a 23-16 lead.
  • The Tartans scored the next 10 points, led by back-to-back field goals by senior Savannah Gibbs, and led 26-23 with two minutes to play in the half.
