The top-ranked New York University women's basketball team led from start-to-finish in their 118-52 win over Skidmore College on Monday at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.

The undefeated Violets (11-0) have increased their winning streak to 73 games, tied with Division II Ashland University for the fourth-longest in NCAA women's basketball history at all levels.

NYU scored the first five points of Monday afternoon's contest and led the entire way.

The Violets' lead was 30-9 after the first quarter and 56-23 at halftime.

NYU's stifling defense held the Thoroughbreds to 37 percent (10-of-27) shooting and forced 28 turnovers over the first 20 minutes.

The Violets increased their advantage to 88-38 at the end of the third quarter.

NYU's well-balanced attack featured six players scoring in double-figures, while two others had nine.

Caroline Peper and Zahra Alexander led the way with 16 points each. Yasmene Clark scored, Olivia Lagao and Aila Kaibara each had 12, while Eden Williamson added 10.

Both Megan Ohonde and Caitlin Kenney scored nine.

Clark, who received the first home start of her career, grabbed team-highs of nine rebounds and six steals, while Peper led the way with seven assists.

The Violets tied a team record with 34 steals while forcing 44 turnovers.
