The ninth-ranked University of Chicago men's soccer team rolled past Edgewood with a dominant 4-0 victory in the team's non-conference finale on Tuesday night.

Just 2:11 into the game, the game was halted with lightning in the area. The day would last nearly 90 minutes, but the game would finally get back under way at 8:30 PM. After the restart, it was all UChicago as the Maroons took the first 11 shots of the game, keeping the Eagles on the back foot all game long.

Edward Wu put the Maroons in front in the 28th minute when Chase Perry picked off a pass on the press, slipped a pass over to Wu, who ripped a strike to the upper 90 with his left boot for the 1-0 lead. Despite tallying 18 total shots in the first 45 minutes, UChicago only got one, and the teams headed into the halftime break with a 1-0 scoreline.

Just over five minutes into the second half, Preston Samtani doubled the UChicago lead. After a long throw-in was cleared out by the Eagles, Samtani ripped an absolute scorcher from outside the box, leaving the goalie stuck in cement as the ball knuckled past him for the 2-0 lead.

In the 67th minute, Perry had his moment of glory as he would not allow Wu to take sole possession of the team-lead in goals. Wu played a beautiful ball over the top that would be chested over to Perry by Jadyn Hsieh-Bailey. On his first touch, Perry chipped the keeper who had come out off his line to extend the lead to 3-0.

Max Weene put the exclamation point on the win in the 85th minute when he connected at the front post on a corner kick from Alex Guo to give UChicago the 4-0 advantage.

Josh Nimeroff made his first career start in goal, and he recorded his first career clean sheet with three saves against the Eagles.Sean Cooke and Nick Lorr led the backline with a full 90 minutes of action in the clean sheet.

The UChicago offense dominated from the opening whistle as the Maroons outshot the Eagles 32-11 with 17 shots on goal in the victory. The four-goal performance is the fifth in 12 games for UChicago this season which is tied for the second-most such games in a single-season, trailing only the 2016 season which had six. The four goals are also the most goals scored against Edgewood in a single game since 2023.

With the win, the Maroons improve to 10-2 overall on the season.
