NYU earns four-set wins over Batten and Kean on Saturday.

The New York University women's volleyball team earned a pair of victories Saturday in Union, New Jersey, defeating No. 22 Batten University before taking down host Kean University.

The Violets defeated Batten in four sets (26-24, 17-25, 25-23, 25-13) before defeating Kean in four sets (21-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-19).

"Communication was our focus when the sets became close," said Head Coach Andrew Brown. "Our team did a good job in staying as the aggressor and taking big risks."

Match 1: NYU 3, Batten 1

NYU and Batten traded points throughout the opening frame before the Violets rallied late, with Lucianna Welles recording back-to-back kills to close our set one.

The Marlins used a seven-point run to take the lead in set two. Coco Barton and Welles answered with back-to-back blocks, but Batten maintained its advantage to even the match at one set apiece.

The Violets bounced back in the third set and never trailed, carrying that momentum into the fourth. Alden Roberts helped seal the victory with two service aces and an assist to close out the match.

Match 2: NYU 3, Kean 1

Kean took an early 8-2 lead in the opening set before the Violets rallied to even the score. The teams traded points down the stretch, but Kean pulled ahead to take the set.

NYU responded in the second set with back-to-back kills from Barton and Sarah Beville to build momentum. The Violets maintained their pressure to take set two and even the match.

Both teams traded points throughout the third and fourth sets, with NYU pulling ahead late to take the third frame. Back-to-back kills from Sienna Morales and Beville helped the Violets gain momentum to close out the match in four sets.
