Buckley DeJardin's Second Half Pushes Tartans to 79-63 Win
The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team topped the University of Rochester, 79-63, on Friday to move to 11-11 overall and 3-8 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Yellowjackets dropped to 11-12 and 4-8.
How it Happened
- The Tartans led 10-5 after a turnaround jumper by graduate student Nolan Casey.
- Rochester then went on a 20-8 run to lead by as many as seven points with 6:22 in the half to be played.
- After the Yellowjackets led 33-29 at the half and scored the first points of the second half, the Tartans steadily pull the game even with a six straight points over a two-minute span.
- Another two minutes passed and with the score knotted at 37, senior Buckley DeJardin made his first jumper of the game and his first of four three-pointers, as he scored 16 of the team's next 26 points and put them ahead 63-49 with eight minutes to play.
- Rochester would cut its deficit to 10 with 4:41 to play but the Tartans built the lead back to 18 points with eight straight points and finished the final 1:34 of the game with the lead for the win.

- Graduate student Nikola Dimitrijevic led the team with 23 points after scoring 13 in the first half.
- DeJardin finished with 18 points, making all four of his attempts from behind the arc.
- Casey scored a season-high 13 points and graduate student Sam Adusei chipped in 10 points.
- Casey, Adusei, and sophomore Evan Mirazimi each had seven rebounds and Adusei had five assists.

- Tomiwa Adetosoye led with 21 points and six rebounds.
- Jordan Owusu had 18 points.
