The second-ranked University of Chicago men's tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over #33 Washington and Lee to end their Virginia swing with a perfect 2-0 weekend.

The Maroons rolled through their doubles matches with three dominating victories to earn the doubles point. Alexander Ekstrand and Gopal Koduri picked up a 6-1 win at #1 doubles, and Markus Ekstrand and Jack Wong added a 6-2 win at #2 doubles. Emil Grantcharov and Albert Mackey then sealed the doubles  sweep with a 6-3 win at #3 doubles.

In singles play, Grantcharov and Alexander Ekstrand wasted no time at the top of the lineup as Ekstrand rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win, and Grantcharov added a 6-1, 6-0 win to take a commanding 3-0 lead.

Ajer Sher would give the Maroons the deciding point at #3 singles with another straight-set victory at 6-3, 6-3. Timothy Nguyen would be pushed to the brink at #4 singles after dropping the opening set, but he bounced back to win the second set 6-2 and the third-set tiebreak 10-8.

The final win of the match for UChicago came at #6 singles as Markus Ekstrand pulled out a three-set victory. Ekstrand won the first set 6-4, but his opponent came back with an early break of serve to win the second set 6-3. In the third set tiebreak, Ekstrand came out on top 10-5 to seal the 6-1 victory.

With the win, the Maroons improve to 6-2 on the season. UChicago will now take two weeks off before returning to action on March 15 as the team kicks off its California week against UC Santa Cruz.
