Violets Sweep Doubles and Capture Five Singles Victories

The New York University men's tennis team continued its 2026 spring season with a 6–1 victory over Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx.

The Violets claimed the opening point by sweeping the doubles matches.

Bryan Hui and Niklas von Hellens earned a 7–5 victory at No. 1 doubles. The No. 2 duo of Jeh-Lei Fan and Shido Ito followed with a 6–3 win, while Kaustav Guttikonda and Nikita Makaed secured a 7–5 victory at No. 3 to complete the doubles sweep and give NYU the early lead.

In singles play, the Violets secured the match with five out of six victories.

At No. 1, von Hellens led the way with a 7–5, 6–1 win. At No. 3, Louis Frowein earned a 6–4, 6–2 victory, while Ito added a 6–2, 6–3 win at No. 4. At No. 5, Fan secured a hard-fought 6–3, 3–6, [10–8] victory after rallying in the match tiebreak. Cooper Kline added a 6–3, 6–4 win at No. 6.
