UChicago Climbs to Seventh in Learfield Directors' Cup After Winter Season

The University of Chicago sits in seventh place in the 2025-26 LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings following the end of the winter season, as released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.

During the winter season, the men's swimming and diving team brought home the top finish nationally with their third consecutive third-place finish. The Maroons tallied five individual national championships and brought home 85 points for UChicago. The women's swimming & diving team also earned a seventh-place finish to earn 72 points overall.

The men's and women's basketball teams both reached the national quarterfinals for just the second time in program history. The men's team picked up wins over Penn State Behrend, #24 Otterbein, and #7 Gustavus Adolphus before falling to #5 Mary Washington, and the women's team tallied wins over (RV) Gustavus Adolphus, #24 UW-Whitewater, and #7 Hope before falling to #4 UW-Oshkosh. Both teams earned 73 points overall for the top-eight finishes.

The wrestling team earned their top finish in program history as the program-record five national qualifiers earned a pair of All-America honors to bring home an 11th-place finish overall. The wrestlers earned 66 points for the Maroons.

During the fall season, the women's soccer team had the top finish nationally with the sixth Final Four appearance in program history. The team drew #1 WashU 1-1 before falling in a 14-round penalty shootout to earn 83 points for the Maroons.

On the men's side, the men's cross country team brought home their fourth top-12 finish in their past six National Championship appearances. The team's 12th-place finish is tied for the third-best finish in program history and brought home 64.5 points for the Maroons.

The women's cross country team added 57 points for UChicago after bringing home a 17th-place finish in the National Championship meet in November. The men's soccer team capped off the points for the Maroons during the fall season after the Maroons reached the Round of 32 before falling 1-0 to #12 WashU.

The Maroons have finished top-20 in the Learfield Directors' Cup for ten consecutive years dating back to the 2013-14 season. The Maroons brought home their fourth top-10 finish in program history and their sixth consecutive top-12 finish in 2024-25. Their ninth-place finish was tied for the third-best finish in program history.
