The New York University women's soccer team secured a dominant 4-0 win against Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday at Lubetkin Field in Newark.

In the 30th minute, Amelia Deters received a pass from Avery Oh at the top of the box. Deters chipped the ball over the keeper, tucking it into the back of the net to give the Violets a 1-0 advantage on her first collegiate goal.

Maddy Tohanczyn held strong between the posts, stretching to tip the ball just above the crossbar making two massive saves.

"Our goalkeeper made some good saves in the first half to keep them off the scoreboard," said Head Coach Scott Waddell. "She's quality and she got to show that today."

The Violets brought the intensity in the second half where they scored three goals in just under 20 minutes of play.

Sari Frankl sent a ball curling into the top left of the goal in the 67th to double the Violets' lead.

Four minutes later Mischa Horton got on the end of the ball off of a corner from Kate Vezzani, slipping it just out of reach of the Stevens' keeper to increase the lead to 3-0.

With five minutes to go in the match Jodie Loturco found the head of Tusca Mahmoudpour who slotted it away with ease for the Violets' fourth and final goal.

The Violets outshot the Ducks 24-8, 9-6 on-goal.

Mahmoudpour and Frankl both had four shots, Julia Spang followed with three, and Sydney Freese had two. Tohanczyn made six saves.

"It was the intensity," Waddell added on the second half. "They knew we could play on a different level, we knew the first half wasn't good enough."
