The No. 8 ranked Emory women's soccer team hosted Christopher Newport for their home opener Friday night, playing to a 1-1 draw to move to 4-0-2 on the season.

The Eagles led the offensive attack throughout the match as they outshot the Captains 19-5 with five shots on goal and led 8-1 in corner kicks on the day.

Sophomore Siena Elder scored the lone goal for the Eagles in the 66th minute, knocking it in off the corner kick from Kaitlyn Nimmer to get the Eagles on the board.

CNU only recorded one shot after Elder's strike, but Anaya Lozano found the equalizer in the 80th minute for the Captains as she belted a kick over a leaping Rachel Carr for the equalizer.

Despite last ditch efforts from Madison Teng and Sophia Asiain, the defensive battle ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
