The eighth-ranked University of Chicago men's soccer team cruised to a 2-0 victory over Carroll on Sunday afternoon.

UChicago had multiple chances to draw first blood early in the contest as the team struck the woodwork twice in the first 15 minutes. In the third minute, Evan Kanellos hit the far post after a cross into the middle from George Marin. Then, in the 15th minute, Timothy Ratokhin picked off a pass from the Carroll defense and lofted a chip over the keeper, but he struck the crossbar as the game remained scoreless.

The Maroons finally broke through in the 23rd minute as Marin broke down the sideline, cut through the Carroll defense, and struck a ground shot to the far post to take a 1-0 lead.

In the early moments of the second half, UChicago found its insurance goal as Chase Perry cut onto his left foot and ripped a strike that was saved by the Carroll keeper. However, Edward Wu was there for the rebound and played the ball back into the box to find Perry for the tap-in goal.

The Maroons held the Pioneers to just five total shots and only one shot on goal as Ali Alamery recorded his first clean sheet of the season. The clean sheet is the 10th of the career for Alamery, which ranks as the eighth-most in program history.

With the win, the Maroons improve to 6-1 overall on the season.
